Updated August 1, 2017

Third-party educational activities
include any scientific, educational, or professional program, meeting, or event for healthcare professionals conducted by a third party and supported by GSK, including but not limited to, continuing medical education (CME), disease awareness, or sponsorship of symposia at medical conferences.

GSK is focusing funding of third-party educational activities for healthcare professionals, also called independent medical education (IME) or continuous professional development (CPD), on initiatives that are designed to close healthcare professional knowledge, competence, and performance gaps to improve patient health.

Prior to submitting a grant, organizations must first register and be approved as an eligible educational provider. GSK accepts educational grant applications in response to a specific Call for Grant Applications (CGA). Organizations are required to reference the specific CGA to which they are interested in responding as part of the registration (and grant submission) process; organizations (and grants) will be declined if the CGA reference is not valid (see CGA for valid references). Grant review criteria, disease areas of interest, and grant submission dates are included in the CGA. As stated in the CGA and our Letter of Agreement, no GSK funds may be used for food, beverage, meals, travel, or accommodation costs for attendees.

GSK is not accepting IME grant applications at this time, as our CGA deadline has expired. Please continue to monitor this website for our next CGA disease areas of interest and submission dates.

Educational providers must meet the below eligibility criterion:

*Accredited to provide HCP continuing education (ie, CME, CE) by a national accrediting body such as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
